22 projects with the goal to increase the renovation rate and safeguard the affordability of energy bills, were granted with more than 5 million euros in subsidies this July, after the Flemish Minister of Energy Zuhal Demir had launched 3 calls in April.
18 projects with Renovation coaches
The Renovation Coaches will support the operation of the 18 Flemish Energy Houses for a period of 3 years with an offer of free primary renovation advice aimed at the renovation of houses up to the long-term target 2050 (EPC label A). Households that choose to renovate can count on free guidance, ranging from drawing up an action plan and requesting/assessing quotations tomonitoring the works and applying for premiums. The Renovation Coach can also develop a tailor-made financing proposal in which entitled owners will be informed about the interest-free energy loan, the interest-free renovation loan/energy loan+ and the label premium.
3 projects with thermography
Providing explanations for thermographic images appears to be a cost-effective and accessible way to motivate owners to renovate. The three pilot projects on thermography will use existing and new thermographic images for a period of three years to raise awareness and to put a step towards renovation advice and guidance in the implementation of energy-saving works. These projects must also be maximally embedded in the operation of the energy houses and function in synergy with the services of the Renovation Coaches.
1 project Guidance in switching to a cheaper supplier
In June 2021, customers who switch supplier can save an average of 164 euro per year for electricity and 298 euro for natural gas. The project approved within the third call will guide at least 600 families with “dormant contracts” and customers with an exclusive nightly rate in Antwerp for 1 year in their transition to a cheaper and preferably green supplier.
